PhilippineNames

Sources, attribution and open data

The catalogue combines separate evidence layers. Their counts describe coverage, never the national population.

OpenHalalan / COMELEC transcription

4,789 distinct source-reported name forms were derived from the strict 2001 subset with an explicit middle initial. Generational suffixes and extraction artefacts were removed; actual multiword forms were retained. Original PDF spot checks do not constitute verification of every transcribed row.

Wiktionary / Kaikki / Wiktextract

Given-name senses and etymologies are adapted from Wiktionary contributors, extracted by Tatu Ylönen’s Wiktextract project and distributed by Kaikki.org. Each profile links the relevant entry and contributor history. Source-English accounts remain separately attributed; filtering, grouping and bilingual framing are modifications.

Only explicit given-name claims on Philippine-citizenship records were included. Names were not guessed by splitting people’s full names. This community-edited evidence is not civil-registry verification.
