MEANING & HISTORY
What does Arnoldo mean?
Arnoldo is a Spanish form in the Arnold family, documented in the Spanish dictionary as corresponding to Arnold. The older Germanic components are eagle and power or rule, independently checked in the medieval name dictionary.
Its final -o belongs to the later form rather than another word meaning brave. Arnoldo and Arnold therefore share a base while remaining distinct names. The eagle image describes the inherited vocabulary, not a claim about a bearer’s strength, leadership ability or family ancestry.
