MEANING & HISTORY
What does Candy mean?
Candy is a diminutive of Candace and is also influenced by the ordinary English word candy. Candace has a separate history as a royal title transmitted in the New Testament, associated with a queen mother.
The sweet-food association is therefore a later and readily recognizable word connection, not the complete ancient etymology of Candace. Candy can also be chosen independently as a word-like personal name, with no longer official form required.
