MEANING & HISTORY
What does Christina mean?
Christina comes from Christiana, the Latin feminine of Christian. The underlying Christianus means a Christian, a follower of Christ.
Anointed belongs to the Greek title Christos one step further back, so it is less direct as a translation of Christina itself. Early saints and later royal bearers helped transmit the feminine name. The name’s religious history can be stated accurately without assuming the personal faith of every modern woman called Christina.
