MEANING & HISTORY
What does Estong mean?
Estong is explicitly derived from Ernesto with a familiar -ng ending in Cebuano. Although Erning belongs to the same longer-name family, the two are separately recorded forms.
Ernesto corresponds to Ernest, whose Germanic source concerns seriousness. The shortening pattern explains the visible local name without inventing a new meaning for Est-. Its historical root does not impose a particular temperament on a bearer.
