MEANING & HISTORY
What does Gaudencia mean?
Gaudencia has a direct Latin explanation in Václav Rameš’s encyclopedia of given names: he derives the exact form from gaudere, to rejoice. This supplies the missing feminine-name account, rather than merely copying the etymology of Gaudencio.
The Galician academy independently places Gaudencia in the same historical name discussion. The rejoicing sense describes the linguistic tradition; it does not predict a bearer’s temperament or tell us why an individual family chose it.
