MEANING & HISTORY
What does Horacio mean?
Horacio is the Spanish continuation of Horatius, the Roman family name known in English through Horace. The poet Quintus Horatius Flaccus is a central classical bearer.
A connection with Latin hora, time or season, has been proposed, but an Etruscan origin is also possible. The secure explanation is the Roman name relationship. Presenting Horacio simply as timekeeper would turn one disputed hypothesis into an unsupported personal-name translation.
