MEANING & HISTORY
What does Levin mean?
Levin has at least two distinct histories. In German naming it is a form of Leobwin, built from elements meaning dear or beloved and friend.
A separate dictionary account connects a Russian surname form with Levi and a possessive ending. These are not different translations of the same origin. The German “beloved friend” explanation is well-supported for that particular name tradition, but cannot be assigned automatically to every Philippine Levin without knowing the intended source.
The profile therefore identifies the German meaning and keeps the Levi-related route visible as a separate possibility.
