MEANING & HISTORY
What does Maring mean?
Maring is explicitly formed from Maria or Mari with the local familiar ending ng. The Maria route belongs to the Mary tradition, whose earliest etymology remains disputed.
The nickname relationship itself is secure. Mari can also have independent histories elsewhere, so the recorded Philippine familiar form should not be used to impose one universal root on every identical spelling.
