MEANING & HISTORY
What does Maximo mean?
Maximo is an unaccented form of Spanish Máximo, from Latin Maximus. The Latin adjective is the superlative of magnus, great or large, giving greatest.
The Roman personal-name tradition and Christian saints helped transmit it. The meaning is grammatical and historical rather than a claim that the bearer outranks others. The exact unaccented spelling is retained.
