MEANING & HISTORY
What does Patricio mean?
Patricio is the Spanish form of Latin Patricius, the name behind Patrick. Patricius described a patrician, a member of the noble class in ancient Roman society.
The name’s Christian history is closely connected with Saint Patrick, but its lexical meaning comes from the Roman social term. Patricio preserves a Romance-language form of that ancestry. It does not claim that the bearer belongs to a hereditary aristocracy today.
