MEANING & HISTORY
What does Rhoda mean?
Rhoda is a Greek-derived biblical name associated with rhodon, rose. The New Testament includes a servant named Rhoda in the household of Mary, John Mark’s mother.
The imported dictionary also notes a possible relation to Rhodes. The rose gloss is the standard onomastic interpretation; it should not be confused with an invented compound of modern words beginning rho and da.
