MEANING & HISTORY
What does Wilfredo mean?
Wilfredo is the Spanish form of Wilfred. The older English compound combines willa, will or desire, with frith, peace, producing the interpretation desiring peace.
The final o marks its adaptation as a Spanish personal name. Saint Wilfrid, the Anglo-Saxon bishop, belongs to this historical family. Wilfredo therefore joins a peaceful lexical image with a traceable borrowing route rather than deriving from a separate Spanish phrase.
