Origin and formation

Yulo has a documented family history in Molo, Iloilo, and in Negros. Teodoro Yulo brought his family from Molo to Negros in 1870, establishing plantations in Binalbagan and later acquiring others in Hinigaran. The family carried the surname across that migration, and his sons subsequently served in provincial government and the Senate. Another possible origin of the written surname is an altered form of French Rouleau, which can derive from the personal name Roul or from an occupational name for a scribe.
