MEANING & HISTORY
What does Edmundo mean?
Edmundo is a Romance form of Edmund, transmitted in Latin as Edmundus. Old English Eadmund combines wealth or prosperity with protection.
The protective second element is different from Edward’s guardian and Edgar’s spear, even though all three share the wealth element. Edmundo therefore has a specific compound history rather than a generic meaning borrowed from every Ed name.
