MEANING & HISTORY
What does Segundo mean?
Segundo is the Spanish form of Latin Secundus. The Roman cognomen meant second or following and belonged to a tradition that included numerical personal names.
Early saints bore Secundus, contributing another historical route of transmission. The numeral is a real vocabulary meaning but does not establish the birth order of a modern Segundo. The Spanish form is an inherited personal name, not a record field describing a child’s place among siblings.
