MEANING & HISTORY
What does Inigo mean?
Inigo is the English form of Íñigo. Its history leads to Basque Eneko, commonly analyzed with an affectionate diminutive element and a possessive base.
Saint Ignatius of Loyola was born Íñigo and later used Ignatius, which helped connect the names culturally. That connection does not make Inigo a derivative of Latin ignis, fire. The architect Inigo Jones helped establish the English form.
