MEANING & HISTORY
What does Jenny mean?
Jenny began as an affectionate form in the Jane and Janet family and later became especially associated with Jennifer. Those routes lead to different older names: Jane belongs to the John family, while Jennifer comes from Welsh Gwenhwyfar.
Jenny therefore has a clear familiar-name formation without one universal root translation. Its final y is a common English affectionate ending. It can also stand as the complete registered name.
