MEANING & HISTORY
What does Jessika mean?
Jessika is an established spelling variant of Jessica in German, Swedish and English usage. The older Jessica form is associated with Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice and probably with the biblical Iscah available in earlier translations.
The literary relationship is firmer than assigning a certain divine-sight phrase to every Jessika. Its K is a spelling distinction, not an additional ancient component. Jessika should therefore be preserved as recorded, while the older source proposal remains explicitly qualified rather than promoted into certainty.
