MEANING & HISTORY
What does Pompeyo mean?
Pompeyo is the Spanish form of Roman Pompeius, corresponding to English Pompey. The family name is connected with an Oscan numeral meaning five, comparable in formation with other ancient number-based personal names.
The later fame of Pompey the Great is a historical association. It does not turn the etymology into great warrior or establish that a Pompeyo was a fifth child.
