MEANING & HISTORY
What does Said mean?
Said represents Arabic Saʿīd, meaning happy or fortunate. The internal Arabic consonant is often omitted from Latin spelling, while the long vowel may also be left unmarked.
The name is not the English past tense said and is distinct from Arabic sayyid, lord or master. Those different words should not be merged because simplified transliterations resemble one another.
