MEANING & HISTORY
What does Saturnino mean?
Saturnino is the Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese form of Saturninus. The Roman base was derived from Saturnus, the god’s name later also used for the planet.
The personal-name formation should therefore be described through Saturninus rather than assumed to originate as modern astronomy vocabulary. Several early saints bore the base form, contributing to its Christian transmission. The final o reflects adaptation in Romance languages without supplying an additional root meaning.
