MEANING & HISTORY

What does Teodosio mean?

Teodosio is the Spanish and Italian form of Theodosius. The Latin name comes from Greek Theodosios, whose elements concern God and giving.

It was borne by late Roman emperors and saints, giving it a substantial historical transmission. Those bearers are associations rather than the literal meaning. Teodosio should be distinguished from Teodoro, a related but different Greek name formation.

The references differ between giving to God and given by God, so the subtitle retains the shared roots.
