MEANING & HISTORY
What does Ambrosia mean?
Ambrosia is the feminine form in the Ambrosios/Ambrose family. The Greek adjective means immortal, transmitted through Latin personal names.
The same spelling also occurs in mythological vocabulary for divine food. The personal-name formation can be explained without treating that ordinary noun as the compulsory immediate source of every bearer’s name.
